Amazon Change The FREE Super Saver Delivery Threshold in the UK

For UK sellers… Looks like Amazon are changing up the FREE Super Saver Delivery options for customers. The current threshold is £10. Anything over £10 qualified for FREE Super Saver Delivery. Now they are making it £20 from May 1st for everything except books which stays at £10.

Quite a big change.

Their latest quarterly results highlighted their Prime services were doing very well. Look like a push to get more people onto Prime in my eyes. I wonder if they will change Prime pricing later on too as more services get bundled in to it.

No big deal for me personally as I subscribe to Prime but for the business side of things the more Prime buyers the better as my stock is FBA. I do think there will be a down side though. Anything priced between £10 – £20 will now effectively have a substantial price increase caused by extra shipping costs if the buyer doesn’t want to buy multiple items to get above the new £20 threshold.

This could have a noticeable impact on sales of those items with that price bracket. I sell quite a few items priced in that region!!

We are contacting you today to let you know that our Super Saver Delivery service is changing. From May 1 2015, orders including £10 or more of books qualify for FREE Super Saver Delivery. All orders of £20 or more in any product category also qualify for FREE Super Saver Delivery. Previously, a £10 threshold applied for all orders to qualify for FREE Super Saver Delivery. This change does not affect Amazon Prime which continues to provide members with unlimited One-Day Delivery at no additional charge.

In line with the above change, Add-on items are now eligible for free delivery with FREE Super Saver Delivery and Amazon Prime on qualifying orders of £20 or more. The Add-on programme allows Amazon and Fulfilment by Amazon Sellers to offer thousands of low-priced items that would otherwise be cost-prohibitive to dispatch individually.
